On Monday Brazil, Ecuador and Paraguay presented a proposal (PDF, Doc) for a treaty that would see the introduction of harmonised copyright exceptions across World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) countries. The proposal, which was tabled at the 18th session of the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights of the which concluded in Geneva Yesterday, which was opposed by major players including the United States, the European Union, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the Vatican and Norway, Switzerland and our representatives from Australia.
