Along with the 40 ideas that were presented (or appendised) in the communique to the Federal Government, there were a number of other ideas that came out of the Youth 2020 Summit. Here are a few that I managed to capture of the two days: HOUSING AFFORDABILITY: That all new developments should include at minimum a quota of 15% of affordable housing. That affordable housing comprises low cost rental properties, houses which are available for purchase by individuals on low incomes and space for emergency accommodation for homeless or transient people and families. That there should be tax law reform to reduce the impact of negative gearing and other incentives that promote the accumulation of property within the hands already established property owners. It was of course a Brisbane community radio station 4ZZZ FM (then 4ZZ) that convinced the federal government to grant them an experimental FM radio licence in February 1974 and help pioneer the new broadcast spectrum.
