Love or hate Björk you cannot deny she’s an innovative performer. She has used all kinds of weird and wonderful objects as instruments in her songs over the years. Check out this video of her performing ‘Thunderbolt’ from Biophilia using a tesla coil as an instrument! That’s right, a muthafuckin’ tesla coil!!

Music Beta graduates to Google Music (but it’s US only)

Yesterday Google announced Google Music. The service wraps a music discovery and purchase platform around their existing Music Beta by Google service that lets users upload (up to 20,000 songs from) their personal music collection to the cloud for streaming playback: Google Music helps you spend more time listening to your collection and less time managing it. We automatically sync your entire music library—both purchases and uploads—across all your devices so you don’t have to worry about cables, file transfers or running out of storage space. We’ll keep your playlists intact, too, so your “Chill” playlist is always your “Chill” playlist, whether you’re on your laptop, tablet or phone. In/outputs - a quick look at what’s passed through my feeds this week Artist Revenue Streams The Future of Music Coalition has launched a research project to “… gather crucial information about the ways that US-based musicians and composers are currently generating income from songs, recordings or performances, and how this has changed over the past five years. The research will be informed by a combination of interviews, financial data and a survey. The Coalition hopes to use the research to: understand how musicians are making money in the music industry; inform advocacy and lobbying activities; and asses the value of new technologies/services available to musicians.
