Projects

Here’s a list of projects I do or have done stuff with:

Copyright and rights management

Creative Commons is an international non-profit organisation that provides free licences and tools that copyright owners can use to allow others to share, reuse and remix their material, legally. Creative Commons Australia is the affiliate that supports Creative Commons in Australia and administers the Australian Creative Commons licences.

CCi is a broadly-based, cross-disciplinary, internationally-focused centre embracing both fundamental theoretical, and highly applied, research in media, cultural and communication studies, law, education, economics and business and information technology, addressing key problems and opportunities arising for Australia, the Asian region, and more broadly in the world, from innovation in and through the creative economy.

Arts

Shøøting Gallery was set up to explore new ways of “doing the gallery thing.” We don’t play favorites. We exhibit works regardless of an artist’s status, city or country of origin, their preference of medium, style or technique, or hair colour. There’s no standard contacts. There’s no set terms. No loop holes and pitfalls. No flat fees or high commission percentages. Everything’s negotiable.

In response to a submission I co-authored to the Queensland Government’s “Voices & Votes Inquiry into Young People and Democracy”, Vibewire was approached to operate a news and analysis service around the Queenlsand State Election for and by young people. I coordinated management, administration, partnerships, syndication, marketing and recruitment for the project, which was jointly funded by the Electoral Commission of Queensland and Brisbane City Council.

  • ‘Young People’s Vision for Brisbane 2026, ‘Vibrant, Creative City’’ consultancy, managed by Vibewire Youth Services - Project Manager and Lead Author, September – December 2006

I developed and managed a consultation process to bring young people’s perspectives into Brisbane City Council’s ‘Vibrant, Creative City 2026’ vision in partnership with Visible Ink and Ideas Festival 2006. Submissions includied blog entries, comments, SMS messages and social media posts as well as formal written submissions. The final report I authored summarised submissions into a cohesive Creative City Vision.

Media

  • POPCULTblog – Founder, editor and staff writer, currently on hiatus

What started life as my personal blog soon engulfed me and a small group of writers, loudmouths and trouble-makers to become an un/popular culture clusterfuck! Publishing rants about anything and everything, POPCULTblog is a failed experiment in existing in a hyper-media environment.

FourThousand is a weekly snapshot magazine published online and delivered to subscribers by email. It that delivers hyperlocal music, film, arts and shopping content.

  • Go, published by Vibewire Youth Services – Head Designer, 2007
  • Gravity, published by Griffith University Student Representative Council – Staff writer and subeditor, March 2002 – September 2004
