Like many other weekends, I ventured out of home in seek of something to do to distract me a while from the hangover. My quest inevitably led me to the cinemas where I saw Notes on a Scandal (2006) and Gwoemul (The Host) (2006). Although the two films seem to have little in common, I couldn’t help but feel that they both depict the sheer hysteria humans can whip up around the unkonwn; homosexuality and of potential biological weapons respectively. While I didn’t mind Notes on a Scandal on a surface level, (it was very well made all round I think) there was some concerning undertones that I found hard to ignore.
